On December 17, 1993, just eight days before Christmas, my youngest brother took a hand gun and fired one shot at point blank range into the head of our mother as she laid in her bed sleeping and murdered her.
This is my story.
I typically don't write reviews but for this book I just had to! It isn't often that I pick up a book and can't put it down and it isn't often that a book not only tugs on your heart but also ministers to your spirit, causing introspection which can then lead to growth and change. I recommend this book to everyone....not only people who are currently experiencing unforgiveness but everyone on a whole. Because at some point or another in life you will experience hurt and this book will help you to not only get through that but it will also help you understand your pain all while teaching you many lessons and for me that is a win win! And if it doesn't help you directly it will help you to help someone! It is heart wrenching yet heart warming and surely it is filled with solid life lessons! Get your copy now!
I had the privilege of reading the book The Freedom of Forgiveness and I walked into this book thinking--a book by a pastor it will feature bible verses, steps, study information. I was shocked this book reads so easily, it is not preachy, but tells a story of a personal experience. A pastor, who is first a man, shares his story and exposes his struggle to forgive his brother. He highlights that in life you don't always have it all together no matter who you are. Christians, believers, and non-believers all need to read this book because we all need to forgive for the same reason. It helps and frees us no matter if we are the forgiver or the forgiven. I encourage anyone reading this post to get this book and the last two chapters are worth their weight in GOLD!
The candid exposition of unforgiveness via Pastor Allen's personal experience is not only courageous but very well written. He embraces all the raw emotions one encounters with unforgiveness and succinctly deals with each one. His suggestions in chapters 7 and 8 are practical as well as liberating. I highly recommend this book whether or not unforgiveness is the issue.
As I started to read the the first chapter it was as if I was there living this journey with the author. Thank you for sharing your journey of unforgivness to forgiveness. Chapter 3 Page 75 the last paragraph is when I felt the lightness and a release of pressure. This book is POWERFUL.
From Someone who doesn't usually read nonfiction: This book was intriguing and kept you turning the pages. The author pour his heart out throughout the book. The last two chapters bring many emotions to the surface and the inner reflection process begins. This is a must read!
Very well written. This book touches you. To see the change made, with God's grace, confirms nothing is too hard. This book walks you right into Allen's life. You hurt with him, cry with him, and praise God with him. I am blessed because he shared.
